I'm looking into ways of advertising Noddegamra; both the site and forum. I was wondering if anyone could help come up with advertising titles and short descriptions of what to put (for examples, look at the google ads). What do you think would encourage people to click a link to check this place out? Additionally, you could also come up with an image (With supportive text). I need as many ideas as possible as I'm finding it really difficult to think what to write. thanks

Still think it's a bit rude to go around deleting posts.
Ask a silly question, get a silly answer.
Google Ads will be a waste of time and money. Who seriously clicks on them? If Noddegamra had a purpose then there might be a case for them, but as there's no rhyme or reason to this place, you may as well throw your money down a great big hole.
£50 and I will walk around Peterborough city centre with a sandwich board on for an entire Saturday.

it's not rude, it's moderation/filtering. Porn links damage the site and violate terms of use for such things as hosting and google ads. So I'm within my right to delete them. + It's not a silly question. I want to know for reasons more than google ads. It was just an example. I also wanted it for when I submit the site to free directories etc. + i might get back to you about the sandwich board lol

I don't think any of them were actual porn links. Wasn't anything stopping you from just removing the actual link and keeping the thrust of the arguement. Censorship is the commonest social blasphemy because it is mostly concealed, built into us by indolence, self-interest, and cowardice. - John Osborne

I feel that was rather constructive, actually.
I've drawn a line under it.
"Ms Moneypenny, take a memo-"
How to advertise Noddegamra huh? Well, I think any adverts should be intriguing. Because nobody can accurately define what Noddegamra is about, any direct advertising is going to be inaccurate, boring and unispiring to a casual audience. What we require is something abstract that will draw people in based on what I will call the "WTF factor".
Imagine a crossroads where each direction is identical. You're in a desert or something and you're lost. You have a choice of going down one of two roads. Now imagine that there is something unsual lying in the road in one of the directions; something so bizarre that it causes you to do a double-take before going to investigate. THIS is what advertising for Noddegamra should be like, not just an ordinary looking signpost that just points here, reading "Noddegamra".
Therefore, we need to formulate an idea of something odd that doesn't necessarily have anything to do with the website but which will intrigue the right kind of person to investigate. It is no good attracting EVERYBODY since not everybody will necessarily be interested once they get here, and there is no point trying to attract the wrong kind of person for obvious reasons.
That said, some of the most successful websites don't advertise anywhere, they just exist in the collective consciousness of the Internet thanks to what they offer. If Noddegamra offered something unique and valuable, people would flock here in droves. Unfortunately, it doesn't.
This is a fact that deeply saddens me. We have a collection of creative and talented minds here on this site who could collaborate and create something fantastic and worthwhile that would be enough to attract people; a game perhaps, which uses established elements of the Noddegamra "universe", (in-jokes, etc), that will amuse current members and help to attract new ones.
It's not rocket science. If we build it, they will come.
This has been a party political broadcast on behalf of The Noddegamra People's Union.

that's more like it. + me and you are already creating something unique. The main site IS getting better I think. It makes me laugh anyways.. lol. MY comics need greater improvement, but that will come in time. I need to find the best way for me to make them. I also need to define my own style. I draw in LOADS, but I need to stick more to one that has a lot of character. I think the main thing is we are atleast heading in the right direction with offering something more unique. The "WTF factor" makes sense. It is the only real way of getting new people. This place is different to many others on the net, but there is just something stopping it from going that extra step. I really need to find out what that is. Still, getting word out of the site isn't necessarily a bad thing. Just getting it listed in as many places as possible may get the site a bit more well known. Another step is to create "link bait". Give reasons (such as a great comic strip) for people to blog/write about US. Great content will bring people here. Getting people to sign up to the forum is kinda tricky though. Noddegamra sorta lacks a niche.

I have a proposition regarding comic strips: I suggest that you and I, (and anyone else interested in drawing a comic strip), create a large cache of comics before releasing them to the public and then work out a regular schedule where we can leak each one week by week whilst also refilling the cache with more comics, (at a slower pace).
This would allow each comic to get the "space" it deserves before another one comes along and it would provide a regular time when people would know the next one would be out whilst also allowing us the freedom to take time over drawing the comics and get feedback from eachother on how to refine them.
I have another idea on how to intergrate the forum with the main site a bit more but I want to do some screenshots first, so I'll post about that later.
