Hello everyone.

First off I would like to make it clear that, I think the Noddegamra community is great, I am not directing this at any single person, I am not trying to flame anyone, I am just trying to say something that I think quite a few of us have been feeling like saying recently.

Right well here we go, will people PLEASE stop with the negative and destructive attitude that seems to be on the forum of late with any new members who have slightly different or annoying traits. A little bit of joking is fine and cool. If you don't agree with something then make a post, that's fine also. However what's not cool is when everyone turns into a mob against one person and keeps making the same points again and again, even when people have been asked to calm down, until that person is hounded from the forum.

Its becoming annoying and making the forum feel a bit hostile.

So basically I am just asking for a bit more tolerance and calm from people towards new members.

Once again I want to point out im not trying to flame anyone, I like and respect all the members of this forum.

Respect, lol Smiley

(P.s. Nodd I wasnt sure where this post was best suited but thought feedback was fitting, if you wish to move to somewhere else please go ahead)

I feel that if you look through the Introductions section, you'll actually find that we're usually very warm and welcoming towards people. The ones that make GOOD first impressions are welcomed at once, and not the people who in their first post writes: "You should do this, etc etc"

I agree with Saladin on this one. Usually this lot of people here is actually quite nice. Only some people seem to have the uncanny ability to get under almost everyones skin with a single post, and they get toasted, if they proove themselves worthy though (with good comments and fun back at us) they are also welcomed, and if not, we'll just have to dig up the rocket powered spoons and shovels  Grin

Why are you limiting this to new members anyway?

Are you promoting hate when expressed against existing members ONLY?

Actually ..... No...

I will not promote hate in any form, because hatred outlives the hateful.

It's just that the existing members are more in tune with other peoples "flames", most of what is done here is imnsho for laughs and even though we can have heated discussions, I think we can all say that at the end of the day we're still able to go out and get pissed together.

As for the new additions most are welcomed, some just display a very low level of netiquette and as such "deserve" to be flamed/roasted. They can try to earn back respect with good fun posts and not by harassing people trying to drive home a point which most of the members don't give a rats ass about.

This topic deserves a bump I feel. Not just because of new members, but I feel there is just a negative atmosphere around here at the moment. For instance, whenever I seem to post a new topic, I get picked apart by the way I posted it or the words I used, rather than have comments on what the actual content is about, or the site(s) I link to.

If you have a problem with the way someone posts, PM me. If it's me you have a problem with, PM me. I'd rather it be discussed there, than have this crap littering the board and driving focus away from what this place is all about: Having fun.

I prefer the approach of trying to help show someone the right way first. Only when they continue to fail at this, should they be more deserving of your wrath. A bit like a "3 strikes and out" approach, rather than "shoot now, ask questions later".

Hm. Well, it's a slippery slope.

I don't believe that keeping gripes private helps any either.

Well it's a bit like this:

1. If I do nothing, we will get no new members, and people will leave because the atmosphere here gets worse over time and the whole forum/site will die.

2. If people are a little more positive, and contribute to topics rather than spend their time finding holes/errors in them, more people will feel comfortable posting and we may see new members.

3. If the people in question stay as they are, but I get heavier on moderation, other members and users wont know of the bad stuff so much so it cleans it up a bit. The problem with this is it will use up too much of my free time, and there will be a huge mess of people ranting about removed stuff. (There will be many conflicts of opinion)

4. If people send me their annoyances, I can try to talk it over between those involved. This will be a lot more constructive than the way people just nag at each other now. Those who don't have the patience to be nice about things can sit back and allow me to do it. This will create a nicer atmosphere on the forum, and to newcommers.

It's good to have different opinions and allow people to express them, but there is a lot of crap/clutter on here which does nothing but make people (me included) feel frustrated. Sometimes arguments are healthy, but not all the time. Something needs to be done here to prevent the forum from dying.

I think the requirement from me is to moderate a little more. There are times when a negative comment towards a post is funny or without a sort of vendetta. But there are others which just seem to build and build which makes going through this forum a grind/chore.

So I think I have to moderate a bit more, deleting what I feel is necessary AND encourage arguments and/or annoyances to be carried out maturely and privately, not affecting everyone else on the forum.

I want people to come on here to enjoy themselves, not to be judged, corrected, and ridiculled.
