I don't know if anyone cares about this info but I thought it was worthy of posting.

Since the launch of the new main site the traffic has soured to an extremely impressive 6,000 + unique visitors in only 7 days. Here is a breakdown of where it is coming from:

  • 79.64% - Search Engines (people finding us through google etc)
  • 13.18% - Referring Websites (people linking to the website)
  • 6.67% - Direct Traffic (people typing in the address/using bookmarks)
  • 0.50% - Unknown (most likely bots/search spiders)

This is purely for the main site, meaning this is NOT including the forum stats. Noddegamra.co.uk is almost averaging at 1000 unique vistors a day!  Shocked  Shocked  Shocked

So what are the top content items at the moment? NAT Settings and Halo 3 online tips!

NAT settings has brought 3,700 pageviews since upload, and Halo 3 online multiplayer tips has brought almost 2,500!

So there we have it, a great start to the new version of Noddegamra. I can;t believe how well it has done so far! The next step is to try and get regular readers, and lure them onto the forum! Smiley

Also, if you feel like helping Noddegamra out, try putting a link to the main site on forums, online profiles and blogs that you have Smiley

Personally I think the appeal of the main site is drastically stunted.

Personally I think the appeal of the main site is drastically stunted.

can you expand on this please?

The website gets more unique visits and page views than the forum. It must be appealing to someone. 6000+ people infact.

Can I ask some questions?

79.64% - Search Engines (people finding us through google etc)

What search strings are they coming in on?

Quote
13.18% - Referring Websites (people linking to the website)

Which websites?

Quote
6.67% - Direct Traffic (people typing in the address/using bookmarks)

All of this is us. The people who already come here quite often are the only ones using bookmarks. And before you say anything, my bookmark is for noddegamra.co.uk, not the forum url.

1. Search Strings
So far, there has been over 2,200 search strings. I'm not going to name them all, but here are some of the popular ones (with number of times searched):
  • halo 3 multiplayer tips - 932
  • xbox live nat - 150
  • halo 3 online tips - 149
  • nat settings - 96
  • belkin nat settings - 82
  • xbox 360 nat - 75
  • xbox 360 nat settings - 72
  • hell of sand - 52
  • noddegamra - 51
  • belkin router nat settings - 49
  • halo 3 sniping tips - 47
  • xbox live nat settings - 38
  • halo 3 tips - 37
  • nat xbox live - 34
  • halo 3 multiplayer faq - 33

2. Referring Websites
So far, only 81. I know there are more than on the list I'm given, but here are some of them anyway
  • forums.xbox.com
  • xboxmeagain.blogspot.com
  • digg.com
  • forums.digitalpoint.com
  • bungie.net
  • forum.gamesradar.com
  • gamestm.co.uk
  • forums.penny-arcade.com
  • xboxmvphandlebars.spaces.live.com
  • bulletins.myspace.com
  • halo3impact.com
  • squatjuice.com
  • 3kds.com
  • blingo.com
  • del.icio.us

3. Direct Traffic
Not all of it is users of this forum. I have people that just read and comment on the blog. Theres also a few lurkers. It also counts for links from emails I think (such as outlook). In 8 days there have been just over 400 unique visitors via direct traffic, and we don;t have that many on the forum (plus most of you do just go straight to the forum).

I've answered your question, can you please answer mine? I've asked people what they think of it and so far it has all been positive. You are the only exception. whilst it is impossible to please everyone, I want as many people to enjoy the site as possible. That is why I need to hear your opinions in more detail.

The more feedback I get, the easier it gets for me to see what works and what doesn't, therefore hopefully improving the website within each update phase.

I'm just saying, there's something to be learned from the fact that only two of the search strings you've listed aren't to do with XBOX in some form.

Theres plenty of others, I just listed the most popular ones.

Non Xbox related search queries include variations of:

tower defence
mr t snickers advert
best riddle ever
comic book super villains
street fighter flash

Remember, these are the stats from the current week. Halo3 and xbox NAT are going to be huge hits. When the mr t advert came out i have over 500 visitors in under an hour. It depends on what is currently the hot topic.

Theres plenty to the site other than xbox360.

It's week 1 of the new site, theres still plenty to add (id love a weekly comic strip for example and some exclusive flash movies!). So far its gone really well. You dislike it but seem to be avoiding the answer as to why in any depth further than "i just dont like it".

Please, if you have some constructive critisim, post it in this forum topic. I'm looking for good and bad. You seem to have a problem with it and I'd really like to know what aspects of the site you dislike and for what reason. I can't change things for the better if I don;t know whats wrong with them in the first place Smiley

If other people say that it is good, who am I to argue? In fact - what does my opinion matter? I'm only one person.

You seem to be trying to justify how great it is, despite me simply "not liking it".

I could tell you what I think is wrong with it, but again I'm just one person and my version of things would be so far removed from your original vision, you'd be unwilling to implement the changes anyway. I'm keen for you to exert your own will on what is entirely your own thing and absoloutely nothing to do with me; if I were to make suggestions, nothing good would come out of the discussion.

Let's just say that for one reason or another that I personally don't like it, and let's leave it at that.

lol maybe my writing is bad, but i was trying to say your opinion DOES matter, thats why i want to know what you think is wrong with it. If you dislike it, there are others who will do too. There may also be stuff i have overlooked.

So please, tell me Smiley

+ can others provide feedback too? I want as much as possible

The main problem is that it's just another blog on a mountain of blogs. There's nothing new or interesting about it; if you've read one blog, you've pretty much read them all.

There's nothing new or edgy about it. The subject matter is pretty much: "hey, look what I found on the Internet" and it looks almost exactly like every other blog I've ever seen.

but wasnt it like that before the update?

im hoping it will be the content that sets noddegamra apart from "standard" blogs.

I think I need to get more imagry accross. more of a branding.
