Just read the stats for last week. On friday the best wedding cake ever post actually pulled in over 2000 uniques!

But what does that really mean?

Is it really cause for celebration?

Yes it's great news. It's very hard to get people to find your website without any real advertising or anything. Especially in large numbers such as what Noddegamra is getting.

Also, people pay good money to get advetised on popular sites, especially with high unique visitor numbers. So more popularity = more revenue = ........... DEDICATED HOSTING!

Yes, no more crappy downtimes! No more slow connections/timeouts! Wooo! lol

I just don't see what having unique visitors achieves.

It's like airing a TV programme and counting people who just flick to your channel for five seconds as part of the ratings for that programme.

They stay for longer than that. The site caters for a different audience than the forum. Not everyone likes to go through loads of posts etc to find what they want. It's the same level of entertainment, humour etc. It's just delivered in a different, more accessible format.
