we are possibly overreacting. But in my personal opinion being passionate about security and pushing it in the faces of people who are not, is not very constructive to peace either.
I mean, if I started pushing nodde to have a shaman or something bless the site because I was passionate about spiritualism, that wouldn't come across very well.

Passionate? Sure, if you call trying to protect someones board passionate. Its not a question of it might happen. Some random script kiddie out there could easily GOOGLE for the exploit (its public), and hack the forum with it like pie (admin pass boom your done). So I had to tell the admin to upgrade because I do not want some random 12 year old punk to deface this site for shits and giggles. Why not push it in your faces, anyone out there could have taken down the site when 1.1.3 was up (public exploit, can be found anywhere). Again I was only doing my part by informing the admin that running a outdated and vulnerable version of software is not safe at all. |
