Anyone here interested in Fable 2?
I was a HUGE fan of the first one and (obviously) the improved version - Fable: The Lost Chapters. If you played it on the PC then I can understand why you probably don't like it. It isn't really a "PC game". It's definately a game more tailored to the console controls and gaming pace.
Anyway...
If you do love it (like me), and got to enjoy the first game then no doubt you will be interested (or pissed off if you already paid for them) to know that you can get the "Pub Games" for free. How? Well there has been a bit of a huge mixup with who is actually participating with this offer in the UK. On saturday GAME was like "WTF? huh? what? who? what? you mean.. we sell games?", and Gamestation was like "fuck you, I'm listening to Creed on the fucking stereo again maaannn". Yes, no one had a clue what was going on.
Anyway, they are meant to be the only 2 participating stores in the UK. However, at the moment only Gamestation seems to be doing this offer online. So, if you want them free, pre-order the game on their site and they will email you the code to download them for free onto your xbox360.
In stores however, they might pull the same stunt they did here with GTA IV. Apparently they were meant to sell them with 500 points to spend in the marketplace. Well, they both didn't. It was about 3 months after that Gamestation actually did (i guess in a way to push sales.. as everyone who wants the game immediately would buy it with or without the points, whereas later on, those who are on the fence would probs be more tempted to buy it with the extra points).
So there you have it. Get it from Gamestation online if you want the free pub games.

I'm not, but I wanted to mention: Gamestation was like "fuck you, I'm listening to Creed on the fucking stereo again maaannn".
Everytime I go in there they're listening to that Cillit Bang dance remix from last year.

I got to play these "pub games" last night. They are quite fun! The music is also nice. I can;t wait for Fable 2 to come out! I hope to fit in some more "pub games" before WoW tonight (yup, earning gold and items for Fable 2 is addictive! lol)

360 only. Although I imagine it will come out on the PC in about a year or so.

The pub games sound interesting but I can't really say im excited about Fable 2 (Fallout 3! Diablo 3!).
The first Fable was a bit meh... it had the potential to be a classic but I feel it didnt really live up to the hype and had too many flaws. I did enjoy it but it's falls into the "Just another game" category for me rather than "Great game" or "Amazeing game". Sorry didnt mean to rant but its one of those games I WANTED to love but couldnt.

I guess it's because you played it on PC, and also a few years after initial release. Fable worked incredibly well as a console game because of the simple controls, and the "pick up and play" accessability. I don't think it was ever meant to be an in-depth game like Morrowind.
It's a bit like Morrowind in a way, I played it on the xbox and it was a bit crap. I tried to love it but just couldn't. It was just clunky and drab. The whole thing just felt like a grinding miserable chore. That was definately better suited to PC I believe.
It seems a thing of playing a game as and when intended to get the full experience of it. Only few games are "timeless" classics. (Half-Life, Day of the Tentacle for example).

To be fair I don't think Half-Life is timeless, im pretty sure it would feel dated if you were to play it for the first time now, FPS games suffer from this probably the most out of all games.

Hmm, I don't know. I played it waaayyyyy after it was originally released and found the gameplay incredibly enjoyable. So much so that the graphics were easily forgivable. I mean, when Orange Box came out Half Life 2 look very, very dated in my opinion. I still had a great time playing it though.
I guess in some respecs no game is entirely "timeless". I think it's more of a term for "longtime greatness". For example, the early Mario games and Streets of Rage 2. They are great to revisit and you can get a lot of enjoyment from them. But I wouldn't choose to play them over something like Wow, Mass Effect, or Gears of War. There's nostalgia there and enjoyment in revisiting, but I guess they don't really beat some of the newer games.

The graphics in Half Life can be improved quite a lot. There is a patch available to apply high-res textures and stuff which makes it look all sexy again. In fact, I'd go so far as saying that there's not much difference between it and Portal's graphics, (which are admittedly a bit tamer than Half Life 2's).
I played it long after it was released. I bought the bundle which includes Half Life, Blue Shift, Opposing Forces and something else which I can't recall, (all I know is that there are four discs! hehe).
