Hmm... I must admit that at some point I felt slightly addicted, like when I thought thoughts like "I could be doing this and that in-game right now" when we went to family parties, but I rarely do any more. I can easily go days without playing, and when I play, it's only an evening or three per week. Also, don't delete: give away

Scary isnt it. As luck has it I find WoW too repeative to become addicted too it, there have been single player games though that I would say I was probably addicted to, but once I compleated them the hold they had on me was broken. Thats the good thing about single player games, they have an end, mmorpgs dont end.

yeah wow is definitely too addictive. i like raiding instances maybe 2 or 3 times. but after that for goodness sake it gets so flipping boring. i only ever do PvP these days and its never really in huge amounts. most ive played this week was an hour this morning...i usually just end up making gold at the AH...

This is quite interesting. Particularly number three, and also number four purely for the fact that it must have added an element of realism for a time. It's a shame that whenever I've been involved in any MMORPGs, there's never been that much camaraderie and mythos. I imagine it would be less boring if there was something more exciting going on than just playing what is, (for all intents and purposes), a finite video game made artificially infinite and populated with people who don't stay in character. My main idea for making MMORPGs more exciting is making weaponry scarcer; have only one of each item per server, so that the items live up to their legends. It gets a little silly when everyone's wearing "The Boots of Speed" and clanging their respective ultimate weapons against eachother. Also; why do animals and monsters carry gold, potions and weaponry? Illogical and a little ridiculous.

lol so much has changed.
I can see how it can get boring. Playing alongside friends in instances is a real buzz. If none of my friends were on I'd have probs got bored of it ages ago.

Ah, I don't think your memory is being too kind to you there.

Ah, I don't think your memory is being too kind to you there. Hmmm..... Oh dear. I just found it funny that this topic was supposed to be about WOW, a game played stereotypically by single men with poor hygeine and minimal social skills. The way this topic has been de-railed is nothing short of a complete about-face. hmmmmmm

I don't see how that quote is me bad-mouthing WoW. It is still stereotypically played by single men with poor hygeine and minimal social skills; fortunately, like a lot of stereotypes, not everybody falls into them.
Except, of course, when it comes to the French since everyone knows they all cycle about in stripey jumpers and berets with a baguette under one arm and a string of onions around their flithy, unwashed necks.
The fact that that's the most offensive quote you can come up with about me being anti-WoW makes me LOL.
EDIT: I've been attempting to use the search function on the forum to find where I have said something horrible about WoW but I'm drawing a blank. Everyone seems to be of the opinion that I was dead against it but I can't find the quotes. If I do find something, I'll let you know.

I think if you re-read some of the discussions, you'll come out of it with a different impression. My complaint was three-fold: 1. Playing any MMORPG on your own, (without friends), is boring. 2. Playing just to level at the expense of having fun is stupid. 3. Not putting any individuality or creativity into your experience is cheating yourself, (eg in selecting well-worn builds, etc, and not choosing for yourself). There isn't really anything in there that slags off WoW itself, and I stand by my comments. TBH there are more anti-LARP comments from you than there are anti-WoW comments from me. lol LARPING is so gay.
Sounds better than thinking about you playing World of Warcraft at 2am wearing nothing but your pants. At least they're getting out and meeting people... even if those people have painted themselves head to foot in blue housepaint and refuse to talk to you because you're "a dwarf".
