hudders, I challenge you to go full on rp with me on Eonar... We'll see how fast our butts get kicked by people standing around us pointing and laughing

LOL
I don't think anyone would really notice, to be frank.
Scripted quests kind get in the way of RP. To do it properly you'd need a GM hanging around all the time, plotting your demise. I heard about a MMORPG that was in development where everything was generated procedurally so that no two parties have the same experience twice; that lends itself quite nicely to RP, I feel.
My best bit of RP I have ever enjoyed was with the first Baele on a text-only MMORPG. He was a priest and he didn't get very far really; only just got accepted into the priesthood before I got a bit bored with it. There was one time that I stumbled upon two guys who were in deep conversation in a room by themselves; the crux of the conversation was that one of the men was trying to extort the other one because he'd been abusing the rules of the game, (playing two characters at once I think it was):
Mr X: "You know it's against the rules... maybe I'll tell a GM"
Mr Y: "No no! No! Don't, I'll do anything!"
Mr X: "Well maybe for the right price..."
Me: "Afternoon gents."
Mr Y: "How much?"
Mr X: "Sh!"
Mr X: "Hello there, reverend."
Me: "Care to make a donation?" *rattles tin*
Mr X: "Of course!" *gives me 1g*
Me: "Bless you, my son." *toddles off*
