A www address is just an IP address that's been turned into a number. It's like how your postman can find your house just by looking at the postcode.

You can put the IP address into the address bar of your browser, just like where you would put the www address. That is how you log on to your router.

Hi Jules31, welcome to the forum Smiley

In order to fix anything you will need to login to your router. This can be done by entering the ip address of it in the browser window (where you normally type in www addresses). For example, I think most netgear routers use http://192.168.0.1 as their default address.

In here you will be asked to enter a username and password. If you have not set one, the netgear default is "admin" and leave password blank. If password fails, just try "password". It might help if you could provide your router model number. Example: Negear Router DG834.

It is from here that you can follow my xbox 360 NAT settings tutorial.

Good luck! Smiley

+dont worry about "sounding blonde". Over 2000 people a week visit that page, so you're not the only one. We are happy to help Smiley

I happen to own a netgear router, which I have always found to be excellent, so if you have the same model number as me and happen to get stuck I will gladly write out the steps you need to take to sort it out.

p.s. Nodd is correct about the ip address, username, and password but a few of the details in his guide are specific to his belkin router and will be diffrent on your netgear router.

Default password for netgear is password, not blank.

Don't quote yourself and expect me to be enthralled by your answer!

I am saying that there is no point having blank as a password as that won't be the password!

Stop confusing people!

usually "password", but can also blank. Its mostly one or the other. So a bit pointless correcting me. I covered both grounds.

I didn't find it extremely confusing. Try "password", or try leaving it blank. Easy.

It depends on the model. Its like if someone has a Ford Focus and want's to refil it. You don't just say "put petrol in it". It could be a deisel. So stop correcting me when I try to help by covering both grounds. It's stupid.
