We've had the Incredible Hulk, Spiderman, X-Men, Daredevil, Fantastic Four, and many more (mostly crappy) Marvel Hero-based films but 2008 promises a new film based on the adventures of Iron Man. The film was originally going to have Tom Cruise as the mighty hero, which would have been ridiculous seeing as he would have just been an annoying 3-foot-tall hero that looked more like a toy. lol. Instead, it appears that they have gone for Robert Downey Jr. I haven't seen this guys acting, and he doesn't look anything like Tony Stark (Iron Man) so I'm not too sure how it will turn out. The Iron Man suit is a "life support suit to assist him after a life threatening accident". Plot Summary:The suave CEO of Stark Enterprises, Tony Stark, is a high-tech genious and billionaire--making the world's most imaginative weapons defense systems. But when a powerful competitor attempts to kill him, and almost succeeds, he must build a modern-day suit of armor to stay alive. Building even more agile and powerful versions of the awesome suit, Tony uses his power to fight crime as the Invincible Iron Man! The Mandarin has been named as the villain for this movie.

You've never seen Robert Downey Jr. ?
A Scanner Darkly Gothika The Singing Detective Bowfinger U.S. Marshals Natural Born Killers Chaplin
?
Never seen any of those?
He was also one of the love interests in Ally McBeal and was in Family Guy, (for one episode).

No I haven't seen any of those films. I've seen almost every Family Guy episode but I probably wouldn't know who he was. There's loads of odd references to random people.

i reckon it could be good. it certainly has the potential i feel.
i say that and they all had the potential but most superhero films have turned out to be pretty ok. i was hoping for another hulk film. i quite enjoyed that one. spiderman isnt bad.

the latest Superman film is probably the worst I've seen. Hulk was pretty awful! Giant mutant dogs and all that crap! Awful storyline. They could have done so much more with the Hulk. He is one of my favourite Marvel characters. I think the TV show did a much better job. Some of the storylines really captured the sadness and tragedy. The film didnt really capture character emotions very well, it was more "okay, lets cram the film with effects. You made a dog? What the fuck? A fucking Dog? Okay, we will put two of those in! No wait, 3! Can't have enough dogs in a movie! .. hmm, what else? Anyone found that storyline I wrote for the film? I'm sure it was somewhere. Oh well nevermind, if we blind the audience with loads of bright lights near the end I think we can escape a real ending and just hit them with the credits! - the end"

Yup. Although Daredevil was better than some of his other movies. Any J and Silent Bob / Affleck crossovers are always funny though because he takes the piss out of himself, saving us the trouble.
The Ideal guy to play Mr Stark has to be the guy who played Magnum PI, but with slightly shorter hair. I am of course basing this on the Cartoon of the mid-90s (if I'm wrong I'm sure to be corrected)
Plus, are we going to see Man-o-War? I thought the big black bald dude had a much better suit!!! ie.More weapons!!! (p.s. I know man-o-war wasn't always black, but I always pictured him as black due to my uncles old comics. Again if his charcter has changed much im sure to be corrected by some smart ass :-P)
P.P.S. WORST COMIC BOOK MOVIE EVER? STEEL. Awesome charcter and original story absolutly fucking IGNORED!!!!

The worst comic book movie ever has got to be "Conan The Destroyer" with Arnold Schwartzenegger...
PS: Is it just me, or does the "Iron Man" poster say "Laughing May 2, 2008"?

I have got to say that I am actually looking forward to this film, as long as I don't expect too much, it probably wont disappoint me. Robert Downey Jr as the lead? don't know about that lol.

Iron Man teaser trailer The quality is pretty bad, but I don't think you'll find it anywhere else at the moment.. Looks a bit ridiculous.. Still worth a watch I'm sure..
