Fan... Bloody... Fucking... Tastic...

THE Quote of the movie...

and also...

(click to show/hide)

For now, a quick generic review will do. When the opening sequence started, I was already sucked inThe movie sucked my attention in, and during the two and a half hours it played, I didn't get bored once. The plots played out by the Joker are brilliant and made me grin quite a few times. The scenes are nice and dark, and I walked out of the theatre thinking: This is how a Batman movie should be. The essence of the graphic novels are captured perfectly. The dark style of the movie makes it grim and mysterious. So, in the visual department, nothing to complain about! Nice scenic shots, fast-paced action, everything you want in a movie. Though sometimes I got a wee bit lost during the action scenes due to overly fast cutting and pasting. But, it is forgiven.

Next up, the acting. Never has the OMGWTFBBQ statement been more appropriate. Christian Bale (again) does an excellent Batman, in my honest opinion even better than before. Unlike the actors before him, he manages to display the emotions and the inner conflict in Bruce Wayne's head. No longer is Batman an empty character. There's emotion, passion, and.. well.. he doesn't look half bad either.

Now... well.. as you all might have expected.. the best part of the movie... Heath Ledger. Or should I call him Heath Legend now? The guy is brilliant. I first saw him in A Knight's Tale. Nice looking fellow that could act a bit.. but this? This is AWESOME. (Nodd, bring your tissues.. his performance is orgasmic) He manages to act out the complete messed up-ness that the Joker is. The psychotic aspects, the paranoia, the tics, the CHAOS, the random insanity... But most importantly. He is able to show that the Joker is above all, a human being. His acting was deep, full of passion, and he was totally in character. He convinced me. Heath Ledger IS the Joker (or was.. but shush). Rumours are spreading around the globe that he should be posthumously nominated for an Oscar. Well, they definately have my blessing.

All in all, a great movie. It doesn't slow down too much, I grinned a few times at Joker Jokes and his funny schemes and.. well.. this will definately become part of my movie collection.

Yali's Movie Score: 95/100
If you don't go and see this, you're a... well.. something that sounds insulting, yet creative. Possibly involving a baboon.

I sooooo can't wait to see this film! I went with some female friends to see Mamma Mia last night, after trying to convince them to see TDK instead, and failing miserably Cry

Mamma Mia was, in case you're interested, (shut it in advance Hudders, that was not an invitation for your opinion) enormous fun to watch, and me, said friends and most of the audience were singing and clapping in the aisles. Dancing Queen and Thank You for the Music had me singing along so loudly that people two rows in front were looking back! (They were actually smiling at me for some reason! It was almost like being at the live theatre production)

The acting wasn't always great (understandable, musicals are notoriously difficult), and the singing wasn't always that great either (Pierce Brosnan's singing left us all cringing, at one point I actually yelled out "He's taking the Pierce!") but none of that mattered. Definately a feel good, tongue in cheek movie to see with your (lady) mates (if you're a lady, or a camp bloke)

Warning: Contains scenes of Colin Firth sexually embracing another man, bare-chested. I'll never think of Mr Darcy in Pride & Prejudice in quite the same way again. *sniff*

The end of the hospital scene was real funny! Grin

Yali's Movie Score: 95/100

What could have been different to make up the 5 extra points?

Hmm.. well... the action scenes were a wee bit too fast at some points.. If they would have slowed it down just a little or didn't switch camera angles so bloody much, it would have been better ^.^

and yes... the hospital scene is my last spoiler Wink hehehe

My only beef with Dark Knight was that it was ever so slightly too long. Other than that it was awesome, great lines and superb acting especially from Heath Ledger, I loved what he kept doing with his mouth.

Yep excellent film! Good acting all around, both by Heath Ledger and Aaron Eckhart. Christian Bales performance was good although not dazzling, maybe because he was a bit overshadowed by the other characters.

My only problems with it were (and these are just nit picks really):

It was a good, solid film, much like the quality of Batman Begins. I'll be buying it.

Not sure what the woman who replaced Katie Homes was all about, she added nothing to the film. What I thought was great was how the Joker was doing all these horrific things and the audience were laughing, sadistic bastard. This film was The Joker, Batman had a cameo Tongue
