Fan... Bloody... Fucking... Tastic...
THE Quote of the movie...
I'm gonna make this pencil... disappear - Ta-daa! It's... gone!
and also...
For now, a quick generic review will do. When the opening sequence started, I was already sucked inThe movie sucked my attention in, and during the two and a half hours it played, I didn't get bored once. The plots played out by the Joker are brilliant and made me grin quite a few times. The scenes are nice and dark, and I walked out of the theatre thinking: This is how a Batman movie should be. The essence of the graphic novels are captured perfectly. The dark style of the movie makes it grim and mysterious. So, in the visual department, nothing to complain about! Nice scenic shots, fast-paced action, everything you want in a movie. Though sometimes I got a wee bit lost during the action scenes due to overly fast cutting and pasting. But, it is forgiven.
Next up, the acting. Never has the OMGWTFBBQ statement been more appropriate. Christian Bale (again) does an excellent Batman, in my honest opinion even better than before. Unlike the actors before him, he manages to display the emotions and the inner conflict in Bruce Wayne's head. No longer is Batman an empty character. There's emotion, passion, and.. well.. he doesn't look half bad either.
Now... well.. as you all might have expected.. the best part of the movie... Heath Ledger. Or should I call him Heath Legend now? The guy is brilliant. I first saw him in A Knight's Tale. Nice looking fellow that could act a bit.. but this? This is AWESOME. (Nodd, bring your tissues.. his performance is orgasmic) He manages to act out the complete messed up-ness that the Joker is. The psychotic aspects, the paranoia, the tics, the CHAOS, the random insanity... But most importantly. He is able to show that the Joker is above all, a human being. His acting was deep, full of passion, and he was totally in character. He convinced me. Heath Ledger IS the Joker (or was.. but shush). Rumours are spreading around the globe that he should be posthumously nominated for an Oscar. Well, they definately have my blessing.
All in all, a great movie. It doesn't slow down too much, I grinned a few times at Joker Jokes and his funny schemes and.. well.. this will definately become part of my movie collection.
Also, the Joker has a remarkable wardrobe change somewhere during the movie.
Cracked me up. It was hilarious. Especially when he walked out of the scene, classic moment!
Yali's Movie Score: 95/100
If you don't go and see this, you're a... well.. something that sounds insulting, yet creative. Possibly involving a baboon.
