I was shown this video today by a good friend of mine. It is of the TV show SASUKE (”Ninja Warrior” over in the west), featuring an extremely impressive athlete called Makoto Nagano.
What does he do for a living? Well, Makoto is a 35 year old fisherman near Kagoshima. He spends 300 days a year at sea captaining his ship, the 28th Konpira Maru, where he works as a commercial fisherman as well as train for the competition. Out of over 1700 contestants he is one of the only 2 people who have completed the course. Very impressive!
